Thought provoking book

This book will cause you to stop and take assessment of what you may or may not call good. What man calls good and what God calls good are quite different, for instance in Genesis 3:6 Eve saw that the tree was good (suitable, pleasant) for food and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she gave some also to her husband, and he ate.
Eve considered the tree that God had told them not to eat to be "good" and "desirable" so all of mankind was affected. My bible study is using this book to gain Godly wisdom and truth from the scriptures. John Bevere always gives the scripture as his points and does a wonderful job. This is the second book of his we have used. The other one was "The Holy Spirit" which is a very eye opening book.

Loving this book so far

This book talks about the difference between the things that we think in our own minds are good and actually being led to do what God wants us to by listening to his voice. While God of course wants us to do "good" things most of the time, sometimes a seemingly "good thing" is not what he wants from us.
For example, Saul gave a burnt offering to God. Seems great. Wow! The King of Israel is so holy! But God limited that type of worship to the priests and while what Saul was doing probably looked great to a lot of people, it was based on pride.
John explores this dynamic with tons of scripture and helps us to "walk by faith and not by sight".

Revive us with a Holy Fear.....

Superb - it reflects the very heart of what the Lord is saying to His church... Our God is indeed a compassionate and loving God - there is none like Him, but He is also the One who will be the Judge before us... and i believe this book without being judging or condemning, will be indeed convicting in the Spirit - to bring back a Holy Reverent Fear. In our familiarity of God - we have lost the Fear of God, and indeed what the Word of God has to say about those who confess to be followers and yet follow lawlessness. May this book be a tool to ignite the Church with the First love that is missing...bringing us - His Church, back to walk in purity and holiness - ready for The Bridegroom who is coming soon. Thank you John Bevere.
