About the Author
Daniel James Cole teaches the History of Fashion at New York University and the Fashion Institute of Technology. He is also a freelance costume designer with stage, television and film credits.
Nancy Deihl, the Director of the graduate program in Costume Studies at New York University, specializes in the history of fashion and textiles from the mid-19th century to the present.

A true treasure

My favorite coffee table book that I'm actually reading. When this arrived it was like getting a Christmas gift. It is page after page of luscious photos and drawings of fashion dating back to the 1850's and filled with fascinating details behind the clothing. This is a book to be treasured...

This is simply an amazing review of fashion and of the history surrounding it. The graphics and photos are wonderfully placed and enhance the reading experience. At 460 pages, it's layout makes it very easy to pick an era and dive deep into the people, cultures and events that serve to inform the fashion of that time. Informative, educational and at times a sweet trip down memory lane.
